I love the comments.. y'all are so witty! Sorry I haven't updated in awhile. The internet wasn't working yesterday and I didn't get a chance the day before. Not much excitement has happened around here. I think Eoghan is getting more and more used to having his parents leave in the morning. He of course gets upset and tells them to stay, but (knock on wood) we haven't had any tears again since Day 1!
Yesterday, we made "gingerbread men scones" which are scones in the shape of gingerbread men (so Eoghan can participate somehow). We used raisins for the eyes, but by the time Gillian and Kieran got home, one little mouth had already eaten all the eyes! Sooo we had blind gingerbread men scones. I had never made scones before. Cooking here is so different because you use an actual scale to weigh the flour, use pints for liquid, Celcius for the oven, etc. They turned out alright though!
After our scone making adventure, we went on a hunt for blackberries. Yesterday's weather was SO nice and it looks like today's will be similar. I am so grateful for some sun after Wednesday's extremely dreary weather. It's hard to come up with ways to entertain the kids when its pouring rain outside. Anyway, on our walk we found a blackberry jackpot. Eoghan was thrilled. I actually haven't tried the wild blackberries yet, but Eoghan loves going hunting for them. Eoghan's granddad Jimmy cuts the hedges on their street and so I told Eoghan he needs to tell him to stop! Otherwise we're losing all the good blackberries! Speaking of Jimmy, last night we were up at Auntie Marie's house and he drove up in his tractor (the same one I rode the other night). Apparently a stone hit his window while he was hedge cutting (even though it has a protective grid over it) and it completely shattered it. I figured he was lucky it happened on a sunny day! It must have still been extremely cold the rest of the afternoon.
Yesterday afternoon I went into Mallow with Gill and the kids. Eoghan was wired and ran up and down all the aisles of the grocery store shouting "HI!" to people. I hope they found it amusing because I definitely did! He's impossible to catch when he gets that way.
Tonight I'm going with Gill's cousins Marian, William, and Paddy to a BBQ at the pub in Whitechurch. I think I might just stay at Marian's house because she lives out there and its a good 20-30 min drive and would be a pain for her to have to bring me back.

hey i thought it was touch wood!
ReplyDeletehave you taught egwown how to say ya'll?
ReplyDeleteIf you teach him how to say y'all, he's going to run around the grocery store yelling that and people are probably going to think it's some sort of new American slang you're corrupting him with.
ReplyDeleteMaybe y'all should make blackberry cobbler!
