CHAMPIONS!

We had a very nice Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday night. Gill made the stuffing, the gravy, and helped me with the turkey. I made broccoli salad, biscuits, sweet potato casserole, pumpkin pie, and chocolate chip cookies. The sweet potato casserole didn't go over to well- which I should have figured because Kieran doesn't like sweet things and Gillian only likes very mildly sweet things. I was happy I still made it though because its always been one of my favorites. On the other hand, they loved the broccoli salad and biscuits. After our dinner, Gillian and Kieran's families came over for pumpkin pie (and cookies in case they didn't like the pie). Everyone seemed to like the pumpkin pie. Not enough to have big pieces, but they definitely ate the small slices I served them (and a few went back for seconds). It was really nice having all of them come over. Gill said she felt bad because it seemed like I got lost in the crowd once they all arrived, but I told her thats how normal Thanksgivings are! You spend four hours with your family and leave feeling like you never really 'caught up' with anyone.

Someone had a little too much fun BEFORE the dinner even started:

The table set for my first Irish Thanksgiving:

I skyped home to my entire family as they were having Thanksgiving dinner at my grandparent's house. That was -by far- the hardest part of the night. I didn't break down until I saw all of them sitting in the living room having appetizers just like we usually do! My sisters were of course good to lighten the mood by saying I needed to pose with them for a family picture! Can't wait to see how that one turned out...

Last night I went with Kieran, Gillian, and Gill's friend Vivienne to the pub in the village for a Charity Table Quiz night. You make teams of four and then answer random questions. There are 8 rounds of 10 questions. Our team was Gillian, Viv, family friend Dominic, and me. I sat silently for most of the quiz because I was NO HELP in answering the questions. The two questions I knew were: the vice president of the US and the male lead character in the movie Twilight. Those were my contributions. We ended up coming in SECOND PLACE though! Each of us received a bottle of wine as a prize. I felt very undeserving of my prize since I did not contribute much..! We had a great time though.

CHAMPS! (well.. second place champs..)
(from L to R: me, Gillian, Vivienne, Dominic)
