I had a 'wake up call' at 8 AM this morning of Eoghan walking into my room (without any clothes on, of course) saying, "Page! It's my birthday! I'm not two anymore.. I'm three!" Today wasn't really his birthday (tomorrow is), but we figured we let him think today was his big day.
I battled the torrential downpours this morning and went into town with Marie (Gill's sister). Twenty seconds out of the car and my pants needed to be wrung out. It was fun to spend the morning with Marie- we did some birthday shopping, some personal shopping, and stopped in at a bakery and had tea. By the time we left Mallow, it had actually cleared up a bit (temporarily!).
All Eoghan's friends came over about 3:30 for his party. There were probably 35 kids here- it was INSANE. They loved the magic/puppet show. It was funny to see the different ages and how they responded to the puppet show. I was standing next to a 12 year old that knew the secret behind all the tricks. Whereas, kids closer to Eoghan's age were mesmerized by the whole thing.
The dinosaur birthday cake was a huge hit. Eoghan wanted to start eating it at about 9:30 this morning. Kieran and Gillian's families stayed for lasagna and the leftover desserts. Kieran doesn't eat sweets, but his dad has a worse sweet tooth than my own dad (which I thought was close to impossible). Thanksgiving is right around the corner, so we'll see how he likes pumpkin pie!
