Pilgrims and Indians

Thanksgiving is not at all observed in Ireland, so I don't feel like its that special time of year at all. Thats probably a good thing because I would be even more homesick if I did! I am trying to introduce the Fordes to one of my favorite American holidays, so today we had major arts and crafts time. Eoghan and I made a pilgrim hat for him and an Indian feather for Katie. I was miraculously able to snap a good picture of the two celebrating their first Thanksgiving.

Tomorrow night we are having our own Thanksgiving. It will be a hard day (not being home), but the Fordes have been very nice to celebrate with me. Gill even asked me to make a pumpkin pie that she can take to school tomorrow for the kids and other teachers. I am interested to see what the Irish think of pumpkin pie. It will just be Katie, Eoghan, Kieran, Gill, and I for dinner, but then Kieran and Gillian's siblings are going to come over for dessert. I'm making chocolate chip cookies just in case the pumpkin pie isn't a huge hit. Someone compared it to Guinness here- at home we have no choice but to like pumpkin pie!
